Optical Sensor Tester for 4 & 6 Cylinder Boat Engine

People who love boating often look for some ways where they can eliminate their worries or be more comfortable when using their boat. However, sometimes there are unexpected things that can happen. Therefore, we should always be prepared and search for some tips to prevent our boat in any troubles. Like getting an optical sensor 511-4017 to set timing on a 4 or 6 cylinder engine or test optical sensors on the bench and on the engine. This tester allows optional eyes free operation by sounding an audible alert when used to set the ignition timing without having to see the LED. It Replaces 434017 OMC OIS 2000 Sensor Tester.

You should also know these guidelines when using an optical sensor provided by CDI Electronics.
  • The optical sensor works by shining infrared light through the windows in the timing wheel to photo sensors on the other side. Infrared light is also used in most TV type remote controls and is not visible to the human eye. As the sensor is light sensitive, avoid exposure to bright sunlight when the timing wheel cover is removed and never point a timing light at the sensor.
  •  Ensure there is no blockage or cracks in the timing wheel and no obstructions or liquid in the sensor. When cleaning the sensor, do not use any solvents as these can damage the sensor’s lenses. Soap and water is recommended.
